Mary and I went on from Collingwood to George Lake in Killarney Provincial Park about 5 hours slow hauling north. At George Lake we were dry camping with the trailer. That is, in RV speak (for those who speak artSpeak but not RV), we had no hookup amenities nor did we use park toilets. This was a test. The unit can be self-sufficient relying upon propane from a mounted tank for heating and cooking. Drinking/cooking water came from an onboard fresh water tank. The fresh water used in the toilet is flushed to a black water holding tank. Shower and sink drain water were being stored in a gray water tank. Food refrigeration was done with propane. We have a Honda gas generator for charging a deep cycling, on board, RV/Marine battery which we used for lighting and charging our electrics. Most importantly the battery powered the propane furnace fan which uses a lot of energy, the largest drain on our system and a great comfort to us. It took an hour each evening to charge the battery for 24 hours use. At the same time as charging we had options to use the microwave oven or the heat pump. We had about 10 hours of fuel in the generator tank.

Mary had never been to Killarney Provincial Park and the La Cloche Mountains. I wanted her to see it and to understand why I love the place.

Through reflection, a view of the deep.

I feel I'm repeating myself, over and over. It seems to be good enough for most artists but, I think, what is the point?

What is the reason?

Three birches, a snake in the grass.
The grim face of death.
The nurse log reincarnation.
The relentless positivism of nature.
I walked up to Lumsden Lake (above right). Mary could not, she is too ill to walk so far over such rough convoluted ground. She is too ill to walk that far on Roman pavements. Click on panorama for enlargement. Use browser back button to return to this page.
These rough invisible mountain pathways will soon be to much for me too.

There is a solace in these ancient stones spewed out and convoluted 3.5 billion years ago.

We stayed in the trailer for five days with nearly complete comfort. I read digital books on my phone. Mary played games on her pad.

We accomplished our primary missions: to open the exhibition of paintings, get up to Killarney, test the amount of time we could dry camp without provisions and connections, and purchase a 16 foot, 2 seat second hand rental, ultra-light, kevlar canoe for our family's future enjoyment.
