Hera leapt from Olympos to Lemmnos, home of Hypnos, in one bound.  She convinced him to help her with gifts, offering him the nymph Pasithea.  At Ida, Hypnos took the form of a kymindis bird while Hera seduced Zeus.

Zeus was stricken with desire for Hera.  He caused a bed of clover, crocus, and hyacinth to spring up for them to make love on and covered them with a wall of cloud.

When Zeus feel into an exhausted sleep, Hypnos went to Troy with the news so that Poseidon could more openly aid the Greeks.
