Hektor went to his own home seeking his wife, Andromakhe but not finding her there returned to the Skaian Gates.

Andromakhe ran to him with their son and said:  "Oh, my wild one, your bravery will be your own undoing!  No pity for our child, poor little one, or me in my sad lot..."

Hektor answered:  "Lady, these many things beset my mind no less than yours.  But I should die of shame before our Trojan men and noblewomen if like a coward I avoided battle, nor am I moved to..."

Andromakhe returned to her home and she mourned her husband as if he was already dead.

Paris joined Hektor and they set out for the Skaian Gates and war.
