I own this Paul Kovanen oil sketch on 1/16 inch thick, 11 x 14 inch mahogany ply panel. He painted it in June of 1992. It hangs in a prominent spot in our home.

Paul sent me a few jpeg scans of his water colour paintings as illustrations of a sketching and canoeing trip into Kilarney Provincial Park on the Georgian Bay of Lake Huron. I was amazed. Later Paul wrote he was thinking of doing a show of his latest paintings on his website. I jumped at the opportunity to design a show online.

Paul had not told me he did watercolour painting. He is a master of it. Watercolour isn't a forgiving medium, the watercolourist must get what they are going for in the first stroke. It is a good medium for Paul who paints outdoors and is a bold, confident, experienced painter.
