Now I must make a confession. The choice to include this or not has been troubling me...

I went off my permitted route and returned to Killarney Lake.

The only plan that was allowed to me included the next three days on Baie Fine of Lake Huron. The camps are almost an entire day away from Muriel Lake and include two three kilometer portages. Outgoing it was possible but to return to George Lake in one day would have been impossible for me. It would have been difficult for a young athlete.

The day dawned beautifully again on Muriel Lake as I paddled toward the sunrise.

O.S.A (Ontario Society of Artists) Lake is beautiful too and I must return.

On Killarney Lake I found a good unapproved campsite. I don't use open wood fires.

Keeping the green canoe hidden isn't difficult.

Mouse over if you cannot see it.

Further up the outcrop, west and to the north of where I kept the canoe, I set up my green hammock tent.

Mouse over...

While I was settling in I found an elk sized matt of hair in the pine needles.

Mouse over - zoom in.

A few feet away I found a large, bleached bone fragment, probably from a femur. Although I searched I found nothing more.
A large funny tree face presided over the scene. I hung my food bag from it.
On a rock nearby I cooked and ate my freeze dried food.
Curious? Mouse over.
